    The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for driving a culture of safety and security at DCC through program development and implementation to protect, first and foremost, the safety and wellbeing of our teams, and also our assets.

    Responsibilities

    SAFETY & ENVIORNMENT: 65%

    Takes active responsibility in ensuring every DCC team member and guest goes home safely

     

    CULTURE

    • Engage and inspire key stakeholders to drive change in their areas of responsibility.
    • Develop engagement programs for safety including; training, workshops, toolbox meeting tips.
    • Create a positive culture by role modeling appropriate behaviors and encouraging teams to speak up about safety
    • Liaise with CBV and CMV on safety initiatives and opportunities

     

    SAFETY COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING

    • Ensure effective policies, procedures, systems and services are in place to provide and maintain the highest level of safety awareness, accident and incident prevention and workplace wellbeing across DCC.
    • Keep up to date with relevant safety, health and environmental legislation
    • Share actively through the business
    • Ensure responsible managers and safety reps are up to date and fully trained on any changes to code
    • Monitor and report Safety, Health and Wellbeing performance and trends.
    • Work with consultants as required to bring relevant and timely information into the business and share with teams.
    • Coordinate Health and Safety Committee meetings, maintain records and minutes.
    • Ensure all reporting and follow up of hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses in accordance with the relevant procedures.
    • Ensure all safety mandatories, such as evacuation drills, are implemented per requirements.
    • Monitor and report on progress against the Health and Safety annual activities schedule.
    • Oversee the storage, control and maintenance of all site Health and Safety records.

     

    Environmental Management

    • Set environmental metric targets based on industry and group best practices.  Once determined, measure and report against in an appropriate manner.
    • Coordinate Green Team Committee meetings, maintain records and minutes.
    • Manage completion of annual LVMH Environmental Reporting requirements.

     

    SECURITY:  5%

    Lead efforts, coordinating with managers, to secure the site and it’s key assets

    • ALARM AND MONITORING SYSTEMS;
    • Work with the IT Manager and Operations Director on the Security System ensuring it operates effectively to monitor relevant activity
    • Provide security reporting from cameras and other tools as required
    • Be the “project liaison” with the contracted security company to ensure it’s performance, including maintenance, testing and upgrades (hardware to be managed by IT and Operations), adhering to the security policy
    • Monitor performance of the security system
    • Conduct regular reviews on Yountville and vineyards properties site security
    • Work with managers to achieve constant vigilance of security, focusing on site access, including gates and doors.
    • Work with local authorities when and as required to assess security support
    • Identify, brief and work with consultants on site security upgrades
    • Track and report on security performance.  Use a risk matrix with internal control and managers for regular reviews of security.

    STANDARDS:  15%

    • Coordinate with managers to build a familiarization and cultural engagement with food and general safety standards, using these tools to bring standardization practices into DCC
      • FSMA;
        • Be familiar and well trained on FSMA programs and requirements
        • Support FSMA training programs, identifying best practice in FSMA
        • Work with managers to ensure compliance to FSMA systems
      • ISO
        • Be familiar with the relevant ISO categories
        • As required, work with DCC managers, in particular Quality and Production, to research and scope ISO qualifications
        • Where required, research and outside supporting resources to assist in standardization strategies

     

    CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:  15%

    Be one of the key champions of the continuous improvement cultural development and implementation

    • Working with a core team lead implementation of continuous improvement across the business.
    • Be a strong advocate and positive voice for continuous improvement, leading initiatives in hospitality and administration, whilst providing active support to all areas
    • Create and share communications on CI initiatives and successes
    • Be the training leader of continuous improvement building a suite of training resources and supporting managers in training implementation
    • Identifying external support resources as needed
    • Be familiar with key terminology and continuous improvement systems; Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA, et

     

    Qualifications

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related major.

     

    Languages: Strong English verbal and written skills, conversational Spanish and French a plus

     

     

    Professional experience: 3-5 years of related Health and Safety work experience.

     

    Technical & management skills: Strong, creative and analytical thinker, excellent problem-solving ability.

     

    Personal & interpersonal skills: Excellent communication skills are required in order to work effectively across the business.
